Japan, China Talk for Energy Saving and Environment

Japan-China Energy Conservation Forum, which is talk by Japanese and Chinese government, industry and academy people for social system, policy and technology on energy saving and environmental protection, opened the programs on Monday in Tokyo. The forum is held to Wednesday by Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan-China Economic Association, Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, National Development and Reform Commission of China and Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Japan. In the first day’s high level key note speech, delegations suggested the countries’ cooperation on energy saving and environment by the private and public sectors for sustainable economic development and better energy supply and demand balance to more than 800 of attendees from both countries. They try to expand the cooperation through policy talk and other activity. Mr. Toshihiro Nikai, minister of METI said the forum is to share issues of energy saving and environment under the partnership of the countries. He said the partnership on the matter will enter into new stage through the common task. Japanese government tries to support China from recycling to energy saving through policy talk while Japan will support Chinese local governments to establish system for better environment and energy saving. Japan also encourages Chinese to use energy efficient equipment and devices while Japan will support Chinese cultivation of human resources. Mr. Bo Xilai, minister of ministry of commerce of China said energy saving and environmental action is top priority for the country when China sets new target for energy saving. He said China will enforce the partnership with Japan with experience and technology for the issues through tie-up of the governments, companies and industries. Mr. Akira Chihaya, who is chairman of Japan-China Economic Association and chairman of Nippon Steel, welcomed China shifted to quality of development and environmental friendly policy under the 11th 5-year plan. He suggested the association can support Chinese environmental actions with know how of the world most efficient steel industry and other industries.
