Bronze Casting Scrap Price Recovers in Tokyo

The market price of middle-grade bronze casting scrap recovered to over 600 yen per kilogram in Tokyo. Japanese official copper ingot price, the indicator for copper scrap price, was revised up by 30,000 yen to 870,000 yen per tonne on Tuesday, which rebounded for the first time in a month. Bronze alloy ingot makers raised their purchasing prices for bronze casting scrap on the same day following the recovery of the official copper price.However, the purchasing prices seem to vary by areas. The average price is 620 yen per kg around Tokyo, while some makers ask the prices lower or higher by 10-20 yen.Scrap dealers’ selling prices also vary consequently. Some dealers who sell bronze scrap directly to bronze alloy ingot makers showed the price at below 600 yen even when the official copper price was revised up. The center price is around 610 yen.Bronze alloy ingot makers seem concerned about the price setting for material purchasing, when the selling price is not consolidated for bronze alloy ingot with the fluctuation of the official copper price.
