Sharp Drop of Japan Plate Import from China

Japanese plate steel import from China dropped sharply in May. The import decreased to the yearly low of 2,558 tonnes, which was 80.1% lower from a year earlier and 75.5% lower from April, according to Ministry of Finance. The total plate import increased to 16,589 tonnes, which increased by 28.4% from a year earlier and by 1.3% from April, when import from South Korea and Taiwan jumped. The lower import from China reduced the total import from a year earlier.
