Strong Demand for Japan Secondary and Alloyed Aluminium

Japanese production of secondary aluminium and aluminium alloy ingot increased by 2.4% to 82,748 tonnes in May from a year ago and the shipment increased by 1.7% to 82,117 tonnes, announced Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association on Friday. The production increased for 10 months in a row and the shipment for 12 months. Both the production and shipment seem to continue increasing when the demand is active for automotive parts for export.Japanese automobile production increased by total more than 5% in May including completed car and exporting auto parts. Demand for secondary aluminium and aluminium alloy ingot followed the expansion of automobile production. The shipment increased by 4.1% to 21,182 tonnes for casting in May from a year ago and by 3.2% to 44,111 tonnes for die casting, both of which are the main demand fields of secondary aluminium and aluminium alloy ingot. The shipment decreased by around 10% for plate and extrusion in May from a year ago and by more than 20% for steel industry. However, the total shipment was supported by the increase of the demand for auto parts.Japanese auto production is expected to increase by more than 5% in and after June including auto parts. The demand would maintain increasing for secondary aluminium and aluminium alloy ingot.
