Universal Metal Constructs Cold-Rolled Steel Sheet Plant in Pakistan

Universal Metal Corporation, coil center headed in Ichihara city of Chiba Prefecture, Japan, announced on Monday the firm constructs a cold-rolled steel sheet plant in Pakistan. The plant is the first cold-rolled steel sheet plant in Pakistan as private capital. The firm already established the subsidiary in Pakistan. The subsidiary is starting the construction project and fixed the consumers. The new plant will produce cold rolled steel sheet and galvanized steel sheet at total 220,000 tonnes per year in the first step of the project and will increase the production to 360,000 tonnes in the second step. The investment for the first step is 10 billion yen. The new plant assumes to supply for building material and will start the operation in July 2008.The new plant will be constructed near Kalach and accept the sale of government property adjoining Pakistan Steel, government management iron steel works. The new plant will introduce continuous pickling lines and cold-rolling lines from Steel Plantech, Japanese major iron making plant maker, galvanizing equipment and re-coiling equipment from Tanisaka Tekkojo in Hyogo prefecture, Japan, batch annealing furnace from EBNER in Austria, and electrolysis cleaning machine from Hotani in Japan. Steel Plantech will take charge total engineering for new plant.
