Japan Copper Scrap Export for China Decreases in June

Japanese copper scrap export decreased by 13.6% to 33,197 tonnes in June from a year earlier due to the export decrease bound for China, announced by Ministry of Finance on Monday. The export of aluminium alloy ingot and aluminium scrap also decreased when the domestic consumption is strong for automotive parts.Japanese copper scrap export for China was 30,540 tonnes in June, decreasing by 12.7% from a year ago and by 15% from the previous month. Chinese overheating demand for copper scrap seemed to settle down which was due to the rapid economic growth in the country. Some of Japanese scrap dealers had indicated the export for China might decrease more sharply. However, the export volume sustained over 30,000 tonnes. Chinese copper scrap demand seems still some strong despite the decrease.Japanese export decreased by 26.3% to 1,379 tonnes for aluminium alloy ingot and by 4.4% to 8,300 tonnes for aluminium scrap in June from a year earlier. The exports increased by more than 40% for electrolytic zinc of more than 99.99% purity and distilled zinc of less than 99.99% of purity. The export increased by 34% to 21,118 tonnes for cathode copper and fragment, more than 10,000 tonnes of which was for China and increased by 60%.
