Daiki Aluminium to Start Commercial Operation at Shiga Plant

Japanese top maker of secondary alloyed aluminium, Daiki Aluminium Industry finished the first phase of construction work to build Shiga plant, which the firm started the work in March for 1.8 billion yen as 5th plant. The firm starts the commercial operation in September after opening ceremony on August 28. The firm supplies monthly 2,000 tonnes of products including melted metal and cold rolled products for automakers as the first phase. The firm will expand the output to monthly 4,500 tonnes including 80% of melted metal and 20% of cold products under the second phase in 2008. The firm builds the plant to meet higher demand for melted metal from automakers. The plant has 45 tonnes melting furnace, 45 tonnes holding furnace, 5 tonnes rotary furnace, continuous caster and stacking machine. The firm starts the operation with 30 of employees at 600-800 tonnes per month increasing the volume to 2,000 tonnes with 50% of melted metal and 50% of cold products in 2007. The firm expands the operation to 40 of employees under the second phase in 2008 expanding the output to monthly 4,500 tonnes with 80% of melted metal and 20% of cold products.
