Japan Colored Aluminium Shipment Increases in Jan-Jun

Domestic shipment of colored aluminium increased by 2.4% to 14,034 tonnes in Japan in January-June 2006 from the same period of 2005, increasing for the first time in 3 years, announced by Japan Aluminium Association on Thursday. The shipment increased thanks to the demand recovery for non-construction usages.

The shipment decreased for building roofs, walls and doors in construction usage in January-June 2006 from the same period of 2005. Construction related demand has been in the continuous declining trend. As to non-construction usage, the shipment recovered for transport machines such as trucks, the major application of colored aluminium, and electric and mechanical components.
