Nippon Denko to Expand FeMn Output

Nippon Denko tries to increase the high carbon ferromanganese output to full capacity at Tokushima plant. The firm plans to increase the output by 7% to 189,000 tonnes in 2006 from 2005 while the firm expands the output capacity by 10% to 220,000 tonnes. The firm strengthens the core business of ferroalloy through the expansion and launch of Chinese silicomanganese plant to meet higher demand. The firm tries to realize targeted 5.6 billion yen of recurring profit in 2008 under the 3-year plan through better profitability including industrial, new materials and environmental recycling systems.The firm increased the ferromanganese output to 177,000 tonnes at Tokushima in 2005 from 180,000 tonnes in 2004 and 165,000 tonnes in 2003 after the 25% expansion to annual 200,000 tonnes in 2004. The output in 2006 represents full capacity operation including production loss. The firm also increases the output of Chinese silicomanganese plant to full capacity in and after August posting profit in the second year of 2007.
