Japan Domestic Aluminium Ingot Price Decreases for Oct-Dec

Japanese domestic price for primary aluminium ingot will decrease by 20 yen per kilogram in October-December from July-September. The price decreases for the first time in these two and a half years when the aluminium price at London Metal Exchange (LME) weakened in June-August, the indicator for Japanese domestic price. However, Japanese domestic price keeps the level higher by 100 yen from the beginning of 2005.Japanese domestic price for primary aluminium ingot kept increasing since April-June 2004. The price turns to the decrease in July-September when LME aluminium market declined to over US$ 2,400 and stayed at the level in August. The domestic price decreases slightly when the foreign exchange rate of yen is recently weakening to around 118 yen against US dollar.Japanese aluminium rerollers will decrease their selling prices for most of the aluminium rolled products following the decline of primary aluminium ingot price in October-December. On the other hand, the rerollers might try to raise rolling charges separately from the ingot price due to the increase of productive costs including surging crude oil price.
