Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 13.9% in July

Japanese carbon steel export increased by 13.9% to 2.14 million tonnes in July from a year earlier, which increased for 3 months in a row, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Monday. The export increased for hot rolled wide strip, which increased for 5 months in a row, while the galvanizing steel export increased for 3 months in a row and the plate export increased for 2 months in a row. The carbon steel export decreased by 1.2% to 14.098 million tonnes in January-July from same period of 2005. The total steel export increased by 14.9% to 707,000 tonnes for South Korea and by 5.8% to 302,000 tonnes for Taiwan in July from a year earlier, both of which increased for 3 months in row. The export to China increased by 23% to 563,000 tonnes, which increased for 2 months in a row. The export to USA increased by 45.8% to 186,000 tonnes, which increased for 8 months in a row while the export to Thailand decreased by 1.5% to 327,000 tonnes, which decreased for 9 months in a row.
