Industrial Electric Cable Price Decreases Slightly in Tokyo

The market price of industrial electric cable decreases slightly in Tokyo due to the continuous decline of Japanese official copper ingot price. The price is around 1,400 yen per meter of cut length for 3-core 600 volt CVT (triplex type of cross-linked polyethylene insulated and vinyl sheathed cable) with 38 square millimeters of copper cross section and around 48-49 yen per meter for 2-core 600V VVF (vinyl insulated vinyl sheathed flat-type cable) with 1.6 mm diameter. Japanese official copper price was revised down by 40,000 yen per tonne on Tuesday and by 20,000 yen on Friday, which is the indicator for electric cable prices. Industrial cable dealers adopt reselling prices based on 930,000 yen per tonne of copper price for spot dealing this week, after they shifted the prices from 970,000 yen based to 950,000 yen based last week.Spot demand for industrial cable still maintains slow when copper price stays at the too high level of over 900,000 yen per tonne. Dealers need not to sell much cable volume since they can post enough sales value thanks to the rise of the unit price.Japanese electric cable makers seem to offer dealers the margin hike for shipment in October. However, the hike would not be adopted smoothly if copper price continues to decline under the stagnant market condition.
