Japan Copper Export Increases in August

Japanese export of copper cathodes and cathode sections increased by 23% to 23,947 tonnes in August from a year earlier, announced Ministry of Finance on Friday. The import increased sharply for Taiwan from 6,698 tonnes in July to 10,644 tonnes in August. The export of brass and bronze ingot also increased in August.Copper scrap export increased by 6% to 32,722 tonnes in August from a year ago, which increased by 6% from July exceeding the previous month result for the first time in late 3 months. Copper scrap export for China maintained strong even when Japanese scrap dealers expected the export might become slow, which increased by 6% to 30,241 tonnes in August from July and represented more than 90% of total copper scrap export.Export of aluminium alloy ingot decreased by 11% to 1,544 tonnes while aluminium scrap increased by 8% to 8,046 tonnes in August from a year earlier.
