Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 13.9% in July

Japanese carbon steel export increased by 11.7% to 2.11 million tonnes in August from a year earlier, which increased for 4 months in a row, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Tuesday. The carbon steel export increased by 0.3% to 16.21 million tonnes in January-August from same period of 2005, which forereached to same pace in the previous year. The export increased for hot rolled wide strip, which increased for 6 months in a row, while the galvanizing steel export increased for 4 months in a row, the plate export increased for 3 months in a row and the cold rolled wide strip export increased for 2 months in a row. The total steel export increased by 17.4% to 3.05 million tonnes in August from a year earlier, while increased by 3.3% to 23.19 million tonnes in January-August from same period of 2005. The total steel export increased by 33. 8% to 810,000 tonnes for South Korea in August from a year earlier, which increased for 4 months in a row, and by 13.0% to 560,000 tonnes for China and by 13.9% to 310,000 tonnes for Thailand. The carbon steel import increased by 4.6% to 350,000 tonnes in August from a year earlier, which increased in 10 months, which decreased by 15.3% to 2.46 million tones in January-August from same period of 2005.
