Japan Stainless Ferrous Scrap Export Increases in August

Japanese ferrous scrap export increased to 29,510 tonnes in August 2006 over the last month, which increased for 8 months, and which second level in monthly. The export pierced the 190,000 tonnes in January-August. It is certain that the export exceed at 210,000 tonnes in 2004 when was high record. The export is maintaining high pace which close in at 300,000 tonnes per year. The export increased to 29,510 tonnes by 19.6% in August from 24,680 tonnes in July, by 52.2% from 20,170 tonnes in August 2005, according to Ministry of Finance.The export to South Korea increased to 17,960 tonnes by 3.7% from 17,320 tonnes in July, by 32.2% from 13,580 tonnes in August 2005 for 3 months in a row. While the export to China increased to 10,810 tonnes by 53% from 7,060 tonnes in July and by 70.3% from 6,350 tonnes in August 2005. The export to China increased from a year ago for 8 months when has expansion trend, which accounted for 30% of total export from at about 19% in 2005.
