CEEIA Members Come to Inspect Japan Electric Cable Industry

Members of Wire & Cable Committee of China Electrical Equipment Industry Association (CEEIA) visited Japanese Electric Wire & Cable Makers’ Association (JCMA) in Tokyo on Thursday on inspection tour to Japan. Chairmen of the Committee explained about Chinese electric cable industry, showed much interest in productive equipment and technology of Japanese electric cable makers and said the Committee hoped to advance interchange with JCMA continuously.The delegation explained Chinese electric cable industry had expanded by more than 16% per year during 1999-2004, gross assets of which grew to 170 billion yuan, annual copper consumption to 2.65 million tonnes and aluminium consumption to 1 million tonnes in 2004. Japanese electric cable industry consumed more than 770,000 tonnes of electrolytic copper in fiscal 2005 ended March 2006, according to Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.The Chinese delegation said the inspection party aimed to study from productive equipment, technology and plant administration skill by Japanese cable makers. The delegation explained Chinese electric cable industry was recently suffered from severe competition in domestic market and the soaring material prices mainly of copper.The inspection party was participated by 24 persons from Chinese 9 electric cable makers which belong to the Committee and a staff from Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute. The party will stay in Japan for 10 days to October 20 and inspect Japan Electric Cable Technology Center, Osaka plant of Sumitomo Electric, Hidaka plant of Hitachi Cable and Higashi Osaka plant of Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable.
