Higher Japan Cold Finished Bar & Wire Shipment

Japanese shipment of cold finished bar and steel wire for cold heading increased by 2.2% to 115,709 tonnes in September from a year earlier, according to the industry association. The shipment was 17.7% higher than August. The shipment around Tokyo was 32,995 tonnes in September, which was 1.9% higher than a year earlier and 12.5% higher than August. The shipment around Nagoya was 44,831 tonnes, which was 1% up from a year earlier and 25.2% up from August. The shipment around Osaka was 37,883 tonnes, which was 3.8% up from a year earlier and 14.4% up from August. The cold finished bar shipment increased by 2.3% to 75,535 tonnes in September from a year earlier, which represented increases for 5 months in a row. The shipment was 16.6% higher than August. Among them, carbon steel cold finished bar shipment was 19,073 tonnes, which was 4.6% up from a year earlier and 15.4% up from August, and special steel cold finished bar shipment was 56,462 tonnes, which was 1.6% higher than a year earlier and 17% higher than August. The shipment of steel wire for cold heading increased by 1.9% to 40,174 tonnes in September from a year earlier, which represented increases for 3 months in a row. The shipment was 20% higher than August. Among them, carbon steel products was 8,850 tonnes, which was 0.5% drop from a year earlier and 19.4% up from August, and special steel products was 31,324 tonnes, which was 2.6% up from a year earlier and 20.2% up from August.
