Weak Price of New Cutting Brass Scrap in Tokyo

Market price of new cutting brass scrap is decreasing to around 700-705 yen per kilogram in Tokyo. The price decreased by 10 yen per kg when Japanese official copper ingot price was revised down by 20,000 yen to 960,000 yen per tonne on Monday, the indicator for copper scrap market prices.On the other hand, Japanese official zinc ingot price increased to record 520,000 yen per tonne on Monday, about 18% higher from the beginning of October. The official price surged when zinc spot price at London Metal Exchange soared up to over US$ 4,000 marking record.The price of primary brass ingot decreased to 806 yen per kg from 817 yen at the end of last week, which is estimated from the official copper and zinc ingot prices. Market price of brass scrap decreased by around 10 yen per kg when Nippon Shindo decreased its purchasing price for brass turning scrap by 10 yen per kg, while dealer source said the decrease range was relatively small thanks to high zinc price.
