Japan Copper Scrap Export Increases in September

Japanese copper scrap export increased by 7.4% to 36,595 tonnes in September from a year earlier, averaged unit price of which surged by 71% to 206.2 yen per kilogram from a year ago, according to trade statistics by Ministry of Finance. The export volume became highest since May 2006 despite of high unit price, when the export for China increased by 7.1% to 31,497 tonnes due to active demand in the country.The export volume of nonferrous metal ingot increased for all items of the statistics. The export volume of cathode copper increased by 5.5% in September from a year earlier, lead ingot by 62.2%, zinc ingot of above 99.99% purity to 2.3 times, zinc ingot of less then 99.99% purity by 42.1% and tin ingot to 7.3 times.Aluminium scrap export increased by 5.3% to 8,324 tonnes in September from a year ago, while aluminium alloy ingot increased slightly and aluminium ingot decreased by 13.2%.
