Furukawa-Sky Aluminum Increases Sales Volume by 2.8% in 1H

Furukawa-Sky Aluminum’s aluminium sales increased by 2.8% to 222,000 tonnes in the first half year to September from same period of 2005. The major item of aluminium flat products increased by 3.6% lifting the total sales. The demand is firm for automobile and transport along with information technology industry. The plate sales also increased widely. The can material sales decreased by 5.5% to 69,000 tonnes in the first half from same period of 2005. The extrusion and castings and forgings decreased by 4.2% to 23,000 tonnes due to lower sales for extrusion. The largest application of general usage in domestic market increased by 5.6% to 75,000 tonnes in the first half from same period of 2005. The plate sales increased by 25% to 25,000 tonnes, in which the sales for liquid natural gas carrier is expected to increase in the second half from 7,000 tonnes in first half. The foil sales increased by 0.5% to 21,000 tonnes. The export increased by 12.5 to 9,000 tonnes.
