Japan Sheet Steel Import Rises by 16.6% in October

Japanese import of hot, cold and coated sheet steel increased by 37,651 tonnes or 16.6% to 263,915 tonnes in October from September. The import increased by 22.3% for hot rolled flat steel, by 6.6% for cold rolled steel and by 21.4% for galvanizing steel. The hot rolled sheet import increased by 22.3% to 145,901 tonnes in October from September. The cold sheet import increased by 6.6% to 85,108 tonnes and the galvanizing steel import increased by 21.4% to 32,906 tonnes. The import of hot, cold and coated sheet increased by 24.2% to 172,528 tonnes from South Korea in October from September. The import from China increased by 32.1% to 20,218 tonnes while the import from Taiwan decreased by 11.9% to 61,506 tonnes. The hot rolled sheet import from Indonesia was 6,852 tonnes.
