All electric furnace steel makers around Himeji in Hyogo increased the ferrous scrap purchase price. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing increased the price by 500-1,200 yen per tonne at Okayama plant on Wednesday. Yamato Steel increased the price by 500 yen on the day. JFE Bars & Shapes’ Himeji plant, Godo Steel’s Himeji plant and Sanyo Special Steel increased the price by 500 yen on Thursday. Tokyo Steel increased the price to 30,100 yen per tonne for land transport and to 31,500 yen for ocean transport for H2 grade at Okayama. Yamato Steel increased the price to 29,500 yen for H2 with additional freight payment for cargo from out of Okayama. With the hikes, a yard dealer said the price is likely to increase more. The high grade scrap price also keep firm when integrated steel makers keep purchasing scrap. The local market price could keep firm.
