Showa Denko to Raise Roll Charge for Aluminium Products

Showa Denko announced on Friday the firm would raise rolling charge for aluminium plate and extrusion by 10-20% for January shipment, when primary aluminium price stays high and the firm is suffered from increasing productive loss in aluminium melting and casting processes. Productive costs also increase for heavy oil used in aluminium plate and extrusion making processes and additive metals such as copper and zinc. Packaging material and sub material prices keep surging as well.Showa Denko has sought cost cut by productivity improvement and streamline for productive lines. However, the firm could not absorb increasing costs only by themselves and decided rolling charge hike to keep steady supply. The firm will negotiate with each customer on the hike schedule.Other Japanese aluminium re-rollers also announced rolling charge hike so far such as Furukawa-Sky Aluminum, Kobe Steel and Sumitomo Light Metal Industries. The market price for aluminium rolled products would totally surge up in Japan next year.
