Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 16.8% in October

Japanese carbon steel export increased by 16.8% to 1.857 million tonnes in October from a year earlier, which increased for 6 months in a row, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Monday. The export increased for steel sheet items, especially for hot-rolled wide strip by 38.7% which increased for 8 months in a row. The carbon steel export increased by 2.5% to 20.099 million tonnes in January-October from the same period of 2005.The total steel export increased by 4.2% to 662,000 tonnes for South Korea in October from a year earlier, which increased for 6 months in a row. The volume increased by 26.2% to 543,000 tonnes for China, increasing for 5 straight months, and increased by 15.1% to 120,000 tonnes for the U.S.A. which increased for 11 months. The export decreased by 8.6% to 306,000 tonnes for Taiwan in October from a year ago, which decreased for 12 months in a row. The export for Taiwan decreased by 10.7% to 274,000 tonnes, decreasing for 2 continuous months.
