Tokyo Steel Manufacturing to Raise Selling Prices for Jan Contracts

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing announced on Monday the firm raises the selling price by 1,000 yen per tonne for all long products, hot-rolled steel sheet and checkered steel plate and by 2,000 yen for hot dip galvanized steel sheet for January contracts from the previous month. The demand keeps good when re-expansion project of Haneda airport started. Managing director of the firm said the demand is expected to keep strong for large construction projects mainly in Tokyo, information technology industries, automobile related plants and shipping storages.

The firm will start test run of its new steel plate mill in Kyusyu works in mid January of 2007 to produce plate with 9-60 millimeters thick and 1500-2500 mm width.See attached table.
