Concrete reinforcing steel bar price is strong at 60,000 yen per tonne for base size with 19 millimeters diameter around Tokyo. The price is expected to rise to 61,000 yen toward the beginning of 2007 when rebar makers around Tokyo raised their selling price to 60,000 yen. The local rebar are advancing their selling price hike for the improvement of their profit when ferrous scrap price increased by about 40% or 9,500 yen per tonne from the beginning of 2006. Their selling price achieved at 60,000 yen since August 2004. Large dealers aim to raise their selling price to 61,000 yen per tonne. Small dealers will raise their selling price for inventory products by 1,000 yen per tonne from the beginning of 2007. The local makers and dealers think to impregnate their price hike when the demand is increasing for mainly condominium buildings around Tokyo.
