METI to Launch Materials Technology Council

Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will launch industry, academy and government joint council to discuss next generation technology for materials as early as February 2007. The council discusses major themes mainly basic materials including steel, nonferrous metals, aluminium and fine ceramics to find efficient approaches and feed back them to manufacturing shops. METI designs the council to discuss the technology after the review past research and development items on materials in 25 years. METI holds the meeting every one and half or 2 months making practical proposals in spring of 2008 to show the way for the development.
