Ferrous scrap price is firm at 24,500 yen per tonne for H2, 26,800 yen for H1 and 28,500 yen for HS grade at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is expected to keep the level before and after the year end holiday. Local electric furnace steel makers around Tokyo pay 31,500-32,000 yen per tonne for scrap and some pay as high as 33,000 yen. The price increased by around 2,000 yen in the month. They already increased the prices last week and they keep the price in this week. Ferrous scrap price is also firm at around 22,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
