Ferrous scrap price is 24,000 yen per tonne for H2, 26,300 yen for H1 and 28,000 yen for HS at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is expected to keep the level when the export price keeps firm. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing’s Utsunomiya plant reduced the scrap purchase price on Thursday. Some local electric furnace steel makers followed the move. The local makers pay 29,500-30,000 yen per tonne. However, they cannot reduce the price aggressively due to firm export price. Ferrous scrap price is firm at around 22,000 yen per tonne for H2 around Osaka.
