Nisshin Steel Builds Up Hot Rolling Mill in Kure Iron Works

Nisshin Steel decided the investment for an existent hot-rolling mill in Kure iron works. The firm will invest about 5 billion yen for renewal of the rolling mill motor within fiscal 2008 ending March 2009 to build up the output capacity. The firm also plans expansion of the cooling bed and the heating furnace capacity. The firm aims to keep productive efficiency of the hot-rolling mill when the firm advances management strategy to increase output ratio of special steel and stainless steel products. Kure iron works completes the buildup engineering work for special steel sheet to expand the output capacity by15% to 400,000 tonnes per year. The firm produces mainly hot- and cold-rolled steel sheet and cleaned steel strip for automobile, blade, chain and spring in its special steel business unit. Those products have top share in Japan. The firm is advancing the engineering works of no.1 steel making plant in Kure with about 2 billion yen of investment. The engineering works for the continuous casting machine finished in July 2006. The engineering works for the phosphorus removal furnace is expected to finish this spring.
