Marubeni Receives Hot Rolling Mill Order from JSW Steel in India

Japanese major business house, Marubeni Corporation announced on Monday the firm received the order of the hot rolling mill which has the production capacity at 3.5 million tonnes per year, from JSW Steel, Indian steel maker, at about 16 billion yen with Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery, Japanese major steel machine maker. The first phase of JSW Steel’s project is scheduled that the rolling mill practice run starts within 27 months. Second phase include the expansion option to 5 million tonnes per year. Marubeni accepted the order of the hot rolling mill which has the capacity at 3.5 million tonnes per year for Iskenderun Steel in Turkey with Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery and Siemens AG in Germany in 2005. The order from JSW Steel was large project followed by the order from Iskenderun Steel. JSW Steel is center firm of JSW Group, powerful group in India, which has main plant in Karnakata, South India, and which has the production capacity of crude steel at 3.8 million tonnes per year. The firm plans the expansion project of crude steel to 6.8 million tonnes by 2008 against the increasing steel demand. The firm ordered the hot rolling mill with the expansion project. The hot rolling mill accepts a wide array of uses that is such as steel sheet used automobile. JSW Steel is mulling the enhancement of the cold rolling mill and the introduction of the hot dip galvanizing steel sheet line. Marubeni is expanding the acceptance of an order for the machine and equipment from overseas steel making plant positively. Especially, the firm places China, Brazil, Turkey and India to main market, which is advancing the business with Japanese steel plant suppliers, Nippon Steel Engineering, Steel Plantech or Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery. Marubeni is increasing the acceptance of the order from around 2000. The firm’s order volume was about 30 billion yen in fiscal 2005 at the ended of March 2006.
