Showa Denko announced on Tuesday the firm raises rolling charge for high-grade aluminium foil applied to capacitors by 10-15% for shipment on and after April 1, 2007. The firm has carried out price hike for high-grade aluminium foil by 10% in 2002 and by 5% in 2004.The firm is suffered from manufacturing loss of aluminium ingot in its melting and casting processes, when primary aluminium price currently stays high at US$ 2,600-2,800 per tonne at London Metal Exchange. Other productive costs are also increasing for heavy oil, rolling-mill lubricant, packing materials and other sub materials. In addition Japanese aluminium buyers seem to accept higher premium price of high-grade aluminium primary ingot for next quarter shipment.Showa Denko announced another hike for aluminium plate and extrusion by 10-20% in December 2006.
