Chiyoda-Steel to Renew Old Facilities for 2 billion yen

Tokyo based small diameter steel bar maker, Chiyoda-Steel Co., Ltd. will invest around 2 billion yen for the Ayase plant in 2 years to renew old facilities. The firm replaces dust collector in May and rolling finish line in the end of the year with new ones. The firm also renews cooling bed. The firm tries to improve the profitability through the renewal expenditure. The firm renews dust collector by September for 500 million yen. The firm also renews rolling finish line during 3-week outage in the end of the year for 500 million yen. The firm plans to renew cooling bed for 1 billion yen. The firm started to study for full scale renewal of the rolling mill in future to improve the quality and productivity by replacing the 20-30 years old facilities. The firm renewed ladle crane in melting shop in January 2005 and changed the energy to liquid natural gas for reheat furnace in January 2004 and for electric furnace in January 2006. The firm tries to improve the environmental action for the inner city plant. The firm built new office building in the plant for 200 million yen. The firm builds new dust collector at land of old office building. The firm started the operation of the new building from the beginning of the year.
