Japan Steel Export Rises by 23.2% in January

Japanese steel export increased by 23.2% to 2.762 million tonnes in January from a year earlier, announced by Ministry of Finance. The value increased by 27.2% to 288.557 billion yen. The import volume increased by 53.4% to 891,248 tonnes and the value increased by 45.2% to 87.591 billion yen.The steel export volume increased by 7.8% to USA and by 28.2% to Asia while the export decreased by 1.8% to European Union in January from a year earlier. The export to China increased by 63.3% while the export to Russia decreased by 86%. The export value increased by 0.4% to USA and by 31.9% to Asia while the export value to EU decreased by 2.6%. The export value to China increased by 49.6% and the value to Asian NIES increased by 36.5% while the value to Russia decreased by 68.6%.The steel import volume increased by 116.2% from USA and by 39.1% from Asia while the import from EU decreased by 21.2% in January from a year earlier. The import from China increased by 73.4%. The import increased to 128 times from Middle East and by 103.6% from Russia. The import value increased by 46.6% from Asia while the value decreased by 2% from USA and by 10.6% from EU. The import value increased by 54% from China, to 12 times from Middle East and by 72.4% from Russia.
