Ferrous scrap price increased by 500 yen to 18,900 yen per tonne for steel turning scrap, to 21,900 yen for A grade pig iron turning scrap and to 20,900 yen for B grade pig iron turning scrap at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm under strong export price. Local electric furnace steel makers pay around 23,500 yen per tonne for turning scrap. Utsunomiya plant of Tokyo Steel Manufacturing increased the scrap purchase price on Saturday. Other local makers followed the move. Ferrous scrap price is flat at around 24,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
