Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 20.5% in January

Japanese carbon steel export increased by 20.5% to 1.932 million tonnes in January from a year earlier, representing increases for 9 months in a row, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Friday. The export increased for flat steel items including 35.7% higher export for hot rolled wide strip. The total steel export increased for 9 months in a row in volume, for 8 months in a row in value in US dollar and 38 months in a row in value in yen. The total steel export increased by 24.6% to 724,000 tonnes for South Korea in January from a year earlier, which increased for 9 months in a row. The export to China increased by 63.2% to 530,000 tonnes, which increased for 8 months in a row. The export increased by 25.1% to 365,000 tonnes for Thailand and by 6.6% to 244,000 tonnes for Taiwan, both of which increased for 3 months in a row. The export to USA increased by 7.5% to 140,000 tonnes, which increased for the first time in 2 months.
