Nittetsu Sumikin Kenzai to Raise Zinc Coated Steel Products in April

Japanese major manufacturer of steel sheet series building materials, Nittetsu Sumikin Kenzai will raise zinc coated steel products by 8,000-10,000 yen per tonne for contracts in April when zinc price and zinc coated steel sheet price increased rapidly. The firm will raise the selling price of zinc coated steel products for combining deck, general deck, flat deck, light-gauge sections and square pipe for building construction by 10,000 yen per tonne from April order. The firm’s all flat deck products are coated with zinc and 70-80% of other products are coated with zinc. For civil engineering, the firm will increase the selling price for guard fence, corrugated pipe and line late by 10,000 yen per tonne from April contracts and for general lighting pole by 8,000-10,000 yen per tonne from April shipment. The demand for deck plate products for plant and warehouse is expanding, when private capital investment is good. The demand for civil engineering keeps flat. The firm raised those selling price by 10,000-20,000 yen per tonne in July 2006 to reflect upsurge of zinc price. However, the price hike has not been achieved enough. The firm decided another hike for April contracts when the demand is expected to keep strong after April.
