Japan Domestic Aluminium Ingot Price Up by 30 Yen/kg for 2Q

Primary aluminium ingot price will surge by 30 yen per kilogram for domestic trading in Japan in April-June compared with January-March. The domestic ingot price also increased by 30 yen per kg for January-March trading from the previous quarter. The price continues increasing to reflect upsurge of aluminium price at London Metal Exchange and weaker exchange rate of yen against US dollar. Aluminium rolled product prices are expected to surge by approximately 100 yen per kg as total in Japan during a half year to June 2007 including upsurge of primary ingot price by 60 yen and aluminium re-rollers’ hike for their rolling charges.Secondary alloyed aluminium ingot makers around Tokyo agreed with the users, mainly die casting makers, to raise the ingot price by 3-5 yen per kg for February shipment compared with January shipment. The selling price of casting products was raised by 5-7 yen per kg. The ingot makers could not achieve originally targeted hike range by more than 10 yen of price.
