Japan Aluminium Can Material Shipment Declines in 2006

Japanese domestic shipment of aluminium cans materials, which are aluminium sheets, decreased by 4.7% to 416,480 tonnes in 2006 from 2005, according to Japan Aluminium Association. The annum shipment decreased from previous year for 2 years due to cold summer in 2006 and demand growth of PET bottles.The shipment of aluminium can body materials decreased by 5.7% to 285,961 tonnes and that of aluminium can end and tab materials decreased by 2.6% to 130,519 tonnes in 2006 from 2005. Down range of body materials was wider than end and tab materials when aluminium bottle shaped can demand peaked out.
