Ferrous scrap price is firm at 25,500 yen per tonne for H2, 27,800 yen for H1 and 29,500 yen for HS grade at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm when the export price exceeds the purchase price by local electric furnace steel makers. Hyundai Steel of South Korea offered around FOB 36,500 yen per tonne from Tokyo bay for H2 grade to Japanese scrap dealers at the weekly scrap purchase tender on Wednesday. The price was 1,000 yen higher than previous week and represents around FAS 35,500 yen, which is 2,000 yen higher than purchase price by local makers. Ferrous scrap price is also firm at around 24,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
