Sumitomo Metals Gets 60,000 tonnes Order for Indian Pipeline

Sumitomo Metal Industries announced on Friday the firm got order for around 60,000 tonnes of UEO pipe, seamless pipe and marine structural plate from National Petroleum Construction Company, which is pipeline construction firm in United Arab Emirates, for Mumbai offshore part of gas pipeline project, which Oil & Natural Gas Corporation of India constructs in western India. Sumitomo Metals supplies the steels through Sumitomo Corporation. The pipeline with 180 kilometers long is to transport natural gas from C gas field to Mumbai High Field to existing pipeline on the land. The project is to develop C field and additional field in 2007 and is completed by 2010. National Petroleum Construction Company is the largest contractor in Middle East. Oil & Natural Gas Corporation is Indian state run energy firm. Sumitomo Metals supplies around 52,000 tonnes of UO pipe with 22 and 28 inches of diameters and X60 grade strength and around 500 tonnes of seamless pipe with 8 inches diameter and X60 grade strength in July-November 2007. The firm ships 7,800 tonnes of high grade plate with 9-64 millimeters thick in March-April. Sumitomo Metals is only steel maker with supply ability all for high grade UO pipe, seamless pipe and marine structural plate. The firm said the firm could get the order due to the supply ability for high performance sour resistance pipe.
