Ferrous scrap market price is firm at 28,500 yen per tonne for H2, 30,800 yen for H1 and 32,500 yen for HS grade at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm under firm export price from Tokyo. Hyundai Steel of South Korea offered FOB 38,000 yen per tonne for Japanese H2 grade scrap at weekly tender on March 23. The price was 5,000 yen higher than previous week. The price represents FAS 37,000 yen per tonne. The price is higher than purchase price by local electric furnace steel makers. Ferrous scrap market price is also firm at around 28,000 yen per tonne for H2 around Osaka.
