Tsuda Electric Wire & Cable to Renew Power Cable Making Lines

Kyoto based maker of electric wire and cable, Tsuda Electric Wire & Cable has reorganized the productive lines for power cable to meet active demand from domestic power companies. The firm invests total 100 million yen and will complete the equipment renewal this summer. The firm improves productivity by the reorganization when power companies actively carry out equipment renewal investment.The firm started renewal of productive lines at Kyoto plant in 2006 along 2-year plan. The firm replaces some old facilities such as cable sheathing machine and cable winding machine to remove bottlenecks in productive processes.Tsuda Electric Wire & Cable is a middle-sized and independent maker to produce mainly power cable and telecommunication cable. In recent years the firm shifted management resources to telecom cable field when domestic power cable market was in shrinking trend due to slow growth of power demand and deregulation of electric utilities in Japan. However, power cable market recovered in 2006 thanks to power companies’ equipment renewal for power transmission and distribution. Tsuda Electric Wire & Cable enjoys favorable sales for power cable in fiscal 2006 ending March 2007, which increased by more than 10% from previous year.
