Tostem Decides First Hike for Interior Materials

Tostem Corporation announced on Monday the firm increased the selling price of building interior materials to cover higher cost for aluminium ingot, plastic and wood materials. It is the first price hike since the firm started the interior business in 1988. The firm increases the price of floor materials, interior construction materials, closet materials, stairs materials and window materials. The firm increased the price by 1,000-4,000 yen per 3.3 square meters for floor materials for order from January 5 while the firm increases the price by around 5% for other items for order after April 1. The firm tried to reduce cost through companywide effort to improve productivity and to reduce sales and administrative cost since 2004 under surging cost for energy and raw materials. However, the firm decided the hike when the firm cannot cover the higher cost only by the own effort.
