DOWA Metaltech to Cover Higher Nickel Cost

DOWA Holdings’ metal fabrication subsidiary, DOWA Metaltech increases the selling price of rolled copper products and plating products to cover higher cost of nickel. The firm revises the price mechanism of ingot cost covering for alloyed copper sheet and strip with nickel content while the firm covers cost for production loss. The firm increases the price by total 70 yen per kilogram. The firm starts study to cover higher cost for nickel plating products through price hike or ingot surcharge system. The firm already has ingot linked price mechanism for alloyed copper sheet and strip. However, the mechanism is based on copper ingot with 100% copper and the system doesn’t cover alloys including nickel, tin and zinc. The firm changes the mechanism to cover price change of the alloys depending on the contents. The new system will increase the selling price by around 50 yen per kg compared with traditional mechanism.
