Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable to Expand Optical Materials

Osaka based electric cable maker, Tatsuta Electric Wire & Cable announced on Thursday the firm expands productive equipment for optical materials. The firm will invest 300 million yen to construct a new plant in Fukuchiyama works in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan and to introduce new productive equipment, measurement and evaluation equipment for optical materials. The firm will raise output capacity of optical materials to more than 10 times or 100,000 parts per year by starting operation of the new factory in October 2007. The firm plans capital expenditure of total 1 billion yen for optical materials during next 3 years.Tatsuta will produce high-value-added type optical materials at the new factory including optical fiber coupler, fiber combiner, FGB (fiber bragg grating) and polarizer. The firm already started construction of the new plant in February 2007 and plans to complete in July. The new factory is 2 storied with total 600 square meters floor. The firm will invest 100 million yen for the building construction, 100 million yen for development and productive equipment and 100 million yen for measurement and evaluation equipment.
