Nippon Steel Chemical Develops Better Material for Organic EL

Nippon Steel Chemical announced on Monday the firm gained better performance of red phosphorescene device which is used for organic light emitting display and was co-developed with Universal Display Corporation in USA. The new device was composed from NSC’s red host material and UDC’s red phosphorescene luminescence material. The device represented 220,000 hours life with initial luminance at 1,000 candelas per square meter, 5 times longer than the former model device, and the luminance per ampere improved by 60% to 24 candelas.NSC has applied its technologies for heteroaromatic derivative and medicines-and-agrichemical intermediate into the organic EL material business. The firm has developed equipment and technology to produce super high purity materials steadily and in large quantity by its original methods for subliming purification and contamination control. The firm has researched for green and blue phosphorescene luminescence materials in order to lineup 3 primary colors for full color organic EL display.UDC holds basic technical rights of phosphorescene luminescence for organic EL. UDC and NSC realized commercial use of red phosphorescene luminescence material for the first time in the world in 2004. They also announced cooperation in market cultivation for the material in May 2006.
