Hitachi Cable to Expand Copper Strip Output Additionally

Hitachi Cable announced on Tuesday the firm introduces annealing furnace and rolling mill by fiscal 2009 ending March 2010 under revised expansion plan for copper strip output capacity. The firm increases the expenditure to 6 billion yen compared with 2.5 billion yen announced in January. The firm increases the monthly output to 2.3 times at 900 tonnes.The firm announced in January the firm adds a bell shaped annealing furnace and renews a continuous annealing furnace for 2.5 billion yen. The firm decided to introduce new continuous annealing furnace to start operation in fiscal 2009. The firm cancels the renewal plan and removes existing continuous annealing furnace. The firm already added new bell annealing furnace for 1 billion yen. The firm also decided to add new finishing mill and convert existing mill. The firm tries to expand the output capacity mainly for high strength alloyed copper strip. The output capacity will increase to monthly 900 tonnes compared with current 400 tonnes and original plan of 800 tonnes. The total copper strip output capacity including rolling copper foil increases to 5,200 tonnes per month from current 4,600 tonnes and original 5,000 tonnes.
