Lower Demand for Copper Rolled Products in Japan

Market Research Committee of Tokyo Copper Alloy Products Distributors Association gave market review at press conference on Tuesday that copper rolled product shipment maintained slow at the wholesalers in March. The users continued to minimize purchasing volume as much as immediate demand due to extremely high copper price. In addition, actual demand entered adjustment phase in March such for automobiles, digital appliances and cell phones. The Committee suggested the demand would not recover by summer.The Committee analyzed copper rolled product demand keeps weak in April, though expected to recover compared with March. The Committee gave a view that adjustment phase might continue by June, when some automakers plan to release new model cars. The Committee previously forecasted the demand could recover in May.
