Japan Carbon Steel Export Rises by 4.9% in April

Japanese carbon steel export increased by 4.9% to 1.912 million tonnes in April from a year earlier, which increased for the first time in 2 months, announced by Japan Iron and Steel Federation on Friday. The export increased for galvanizing steel, cold rolled coil and plate while the hot rolled coil export decreased for 2 months in a row. The carbon steel export increased by 5.7% to 7.978 million tonnes in January-April from same period of 2006. The total steel export increased by 33.8% to 752,000 tonnes for South Korea in April from a year earlier, which increased for the first time in 2 months. The export increased by 22.3% to 312,000 tonnes for Thailand and by 6.5% to 303,000 tonnes for Taiwan, both of which increased for 6 months in a row. The export to USA decreased by 9.3% to 128,000 tonnes, which decreased for 2 months in a row.
